Plus Loan Consolidation

Welcome to Plus Loan Consolidation, where you can learn more about the Plus Loan and how to effectively and efficiently complete a plus loan consolidation.  Parents and graduate students can borrow a PLUS Loan to help pay for education expenses.  There are two forms of plus loans.  The first PLUS loan, is a Parent Plus Loan, which is offered to parents if their child is a dependent undergraduate student enrolled at least half time in an eligible program at an eligible school.

The other Plus loan is for students in graduate and professional degree programs, who can use a plus loan to help pay their educational expenses. If the student is enrolled at least half-time, they may borrow up to the total of the Estimated Cost of Attendance less Veterans Benefits and all other financial aid resources.  Both PLUS Loans are available through the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program and the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program.

A PLUS Loan consolidation is a practical, debt management tool that enables you to bundle all of the federal loans you received into a single loan.  In addition to simplifying record keeping and one low monthly payment, PLUS Loan consolidation can significantly reduce your monthly payment burden.  The lower payment means you'll have more money available to meet other household expenses, including car payments, childcare, and career-related necessities.

Why would someone consider using PLUS loan consolidation to pay off their students’ college loan? Well, if you are a parent and take out a parent plus loan, you may have multiple children going through college and the tuition bills could potentially add up to being a huge burden on your family. The standard rate of repayment for these loans is ten years, which might not be enough time to pay off the loan. In this case, consolidation offers the options of extending your loan term beyond ten years and into the thirty year period. This way, the payments are lowered and they become much more reasonable for a person with multiple children.
